In the United Kingdom, employment agencies have not needed a licence since 1995; they are bound by the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct Regulations 2003 and may not charge work-seekers for finding them a job. Fees charged to households are negotiated freely. Since 7 April 2026 the Fair Work Agency oversees agencies; there is no public register.
